Bitdefender is looking for a data scientist intern to help us create a new range of technologies for securing information systems. Our team works on bringing the latest research in the fields of data science and machine learning into cyber-security. If you are interested in learning and contributing to research initiatives that span from security, cloud technologies and big data to deep learning and have good logical and analytical skills this is the perfect opportunity for you. The team you will be joining is part of the Technology and Innovation department of Bitdefender Bucharest.


  • Research, design and implement algorithms for extracting actionable insights from datasets;
  • Generate hypotheses for gaining relevant information by analyzing large sets of data;
  • Write code for implementing and testing the generated hypotheses;
  • Communicate your results to team members and to other technical teams.


  • Prior professional experience is by no means mandatory, talented and eager to learn candidates will always be considered;
  • Curious by nature;
  • Ability to quickly understand the nature of the information contained in large datasets;
  • Ability to design a well-structured solution and clearly present your findings;
  • Some experience with Python programming;
  • Familiarity with OOP design principles;
  • Basic understanding of the main concepts in probability and statistics.

The following skills are not in any way mandatory, but they would constitute a great addition to your profile:

  • Prior experience in working with data analysis tools and frameworks (NumPy, Pandas or Scikit-learn);
  • Prior experience in working with deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow or Pytorch.
