Currently, any IoT device maker has to choose whether to support the Apple ecosystem or Google or Amazon, etc. because protocols are different, and there's a development cost to support each one. Also, since they are not standard, they can and probably change over time. This means you have to continuously invest in this Home. Users want to be able to choose the best home IoT products for their needs. As a result, they may change ecosystems in order to pursue this. So, there's pressure from multiple entities for the standardization to happen. The project scope is to build a simple test tool based on the already available open-source code from Google, Apple, Amazon.
